About the Ellenorlions Hospice
EllenorLions Hospices provides an all encompassing hospice care for both adults and children in Northwest Kent with cancer and other progressive and life threatening illnesses. We aim to give help and support to our patients, their families and carers with all of their needs whether it is physical, practical or spiritual in the environments of our hospice, at home or in hospital. Each year we help and support over 250,000 patients. As well as our bedded hospice in Northfleet which can provide valuable respite for carers, we also have a specialist team of nurses who provide 24 hour care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to patients who prefer to remain at home and receive treatment. For these patients we also offer Day Care Therapy sessions each week at the hospice where they can enjoy various crafts and activities, complementary therapies and a chance to socialise.
Our ‘chYps’ (Children and Young Peoples Service) consists of a Specialist Palliative Care Nurses, Nursery Nurses, Youth Worker, Play Therapist, Music Therapist, Support Workers and numerous volunteers who care for approximately 80 children and young people. They are a unique hospice at home team offering care for all children who have a life threatening or life limiting condition. We also offer our children's families short breaks, enabling parents to have a rest from caring, or the ill child time away from the family or an opportunity for brothers and sisters to have timeout for themselves – as often they are the unsung heroes.
Furthermore, we offer a chaplaincy service regardless of faith, a counselling and bereavement service as well as befriending and drivers.
In order to be able to provide these vital services to the local community in Northwest Kent, EllenorLions Hospices is faced with raising approximately £4.8 million. This is a huge feat and we rely heavily on the generosity of our volunteers, supporter fundraisers and corporate partners to help us achieve this and continue our care.
